As a Wizard, it's important to realise your role in the game. In groups, you are one of the most valuable classes, and unfortunately also one of the first targets. You must be aware you are basically a "glass cannon" - your damage is great. Awesome. Perhaps the highest in the game - on groups, that is. But your defense sucks. If you try to chase someone but move towards the enemy group too much, you'll be killed, fast.
However, the rewards for playing such a squishy class are great. While other classes can be lucky to get one proper AoE, you get two! In addition to that, you get two more AoE's, those only hit once though. Thanks to this insane amount of AOE's, you are one of the fastest leveling classes in the game. While almost all other classes need to cast their main AoE twice to drop a group of mobs, you can often do it with 1, combined with your smaller AoE's. This is great especially in the higher level Suspicious Documents, where others classes really start to get trouble killing the mobs.
There is one more aspect of Wizards that make them unique, and this is what truly sets them apart as one of the most powerful classes in the game - their stuns. You get two AoE stuns that are instantly cast - one is even ranged, and unbreakable by anything except a Priests' Holy Purification spell. Your second can be broken by an Archers' or Assassins' "Escape" - but you'll still keep the other classes stunned. And the best part - with a decent amount of "Magic Attack Speed" on your weapon, and your castspeed-buff (Accelerate Language) active, you can stunlock an opponent forever until one of the stuns misses! And you get two slowdown skills which are absolutely brilliant in keeping melee classes away from you, or just making a clean getaway.
In addition to all this, your single-target attacks are also quite great. You have a devastating 220% attack, and several others that really add up to a lot of damage. Granted, Archers have you beat in single target attacks, because of the speed at which they shoot, but your damage is definately up there as well. In short, Wizards are the class you should play for awesome damage, if you don't care about dying, or if you just enjoy stunlocking opponents for others to kill them off.
